On June 16–18, 2022, Chair of the East Asian Studies Department Professor Anna Shields and Professor Robert Hymes of Columbia University hosted a conference on the historical transitions between the Tang and Song Dynasties. Continuing the scholarship of the Workshop on Tang-Song Transitions–held in alternating years at Princeton and Columbia University in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021–the Conference provided the opportunity to include a broader range of scholars from across disciplines in collaborative conversation. 120 registered attendees filled the Convocation Room, 113 Friend Center, including 38 scholars from 31 institutions who presented their research across a broad range of disciplines.
