Ho Jung Choi receives Keller Center Innovation Forum award for Korean VR project

Sept. 29, 2023

Innovation Forum is an annual competition and networking event showcasing Princeton research with commercialization, cultural or societal potential. Participants in both the STEM and Humanities tracks present their research in a three-minute pitch to the audience and a panel of judges, followed by a demo station reception.

Ho Jung Choi's project is entitled "Empowering Korean Language Learners".  By exploring Virtual Reality (VR) technology as an innovative approach, he has created an authentic and experiential VR learning environment, dedicated to promoting digital humanities and fostering innovation in education. This innovative pedagogy aims to engage learners in virtual cultural and linguistic immersion, promote active participation, and foster multilingual connections within and beyond the Princeton community. Embracing digital humanities principles, we align Korean language learning with relevant topics in East Asian Studies, including the introduction of UNESCO Cultural Heritage sites in South Korea.

The Keller Center at Princeton University creates societal impact through entrepreneurship, design & design thinking, and innovation education.  Innovation Forum is co-sponsored by the Office of Technology Licensing and the Humanities Council at Princeton.
