New Trends in the Study of Medieval Japanese Documents is a one-day conference designed to reveal the research possibilities of medieval Japanese documents, with a focus on Princeton University’s recently discovered collection of Sakuramotobō documents. Organized by Thomas Conlan and Setsuko Noguchi, the morning sessions will be devoted to short research presentations which highlight documentary sources and methods. The afternoon session will introduce the Sakuramotobō documents and explain their significance and will also be devoted to exploring issues of paper analysis, conservation and photography.
