To all Princeton students in Chinese and Japanese:
Venice-Princeton Summer School with the two tracks in Classical Chinese and Classical Japanese/Kanbun — deadline April 15, 2024
The summer school runs for the four weeks of July 1-26.
In each track, the Summer School runs for 60 hours of language instruction, plus 16 hours of additional content lectures in Chinese and Japanese history, literature, and thought. Princeton departments will be able to recognize this highly intensive course for Princeton credit.
As the attached flyer specifies, the costs for tuition (1,000 EUR = 1,100 USD) and housing (560 or 630 EUR = 600 or 675 USD) for the entire period are extremely reasonable. In addition, you should calculate a round-trip airfare of $1,400.
The summer school is taught by the principal faculty of Venice (for Chinese) and Princeton (for Japanese), guaranteeing the highest quality of instruction. For a systematic and comprehensive introduction to either Classical Chinese or Classical Japanese/Kanbun, it is the strongest summer program anywhere around the world.
