Soojung Han (PhD Candidate) received the inaugural Graduate Student Award at the Early Medieval China Group (EMCG) Conference, for presenting her research on “Empress Dowager Lou the Kingmaker: Identity Politics in the Northern Qi (550–577).” The award is given to “the most outstanding graduate student contribution to this year’s conference.” Her award happens to be the first time the Early Medieval China Group awarded a graduate student.
