Bio/Description

Sarah Strugnell’s evolving work combines cultural anthropology and public policy to study alcohol consumption in contemporary Japan.

Sarah is a former Victorian Government Hamer Scholar to Japan (2017), Monash Yoshida Scholarship holder (2015 and 2016) and JASSO scholarship awardee (2016-15 and 2019-20). She has undertaken international study programs at the University of Freiburg (Germany), Monash University (Malaysia), Doshisha University (Kyoto), the University of Tsukuba (Ibaraki), Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) (Okinawa), Nanzan University (Aichi), and the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute (Kansai). 

Before starting at Princeton, Sarah worked in research and project management roles at the Australia-Japan Research Centre, Australian National University.
