Bio/Description

Fangyuan Huang is a Ph.D. candidate in the department of East Asian Studies. Her research is situated at the confluence of affect studies, performance studies, and Chinese literature and cinema. She is interested in the technologies of body and feeling in a state of emergency from late 19th through mid-20th century, with a special focus on WWII intelligence service as an assemblage of affects. She seeks to understand the interpenetration between romance and information as well as the dynamics of love and betrayal in wartime China.
