Yixin Gu is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of East Asian Studies at Princeton University. His research cuts across pre-modern Chinese literature, culture, and intellectual history, with a focus on early and medieval times and wide-ranging interests in poetry, philosophy, historiography, literary theory, and manuscript studies. His dissertation, "The Enchantment of Erudition: Models and Manifestations of Literary Culture in Han-Wei China" is a critical inquiry into the crucial conditions and conceptual foundations involved in the metamorphosis of Chinese literary culture from the first century BCE through the third century CE.
